Continuous Improvement & Safety Technician

We are currently looking for a Continuous Improvement & Safety Technician to join the growing team at Newell Corporation, where precision, innovation, and craftsmanship come together to build something great.

 

What You’ll Do:

As a Continuous Improvement & Safety Technician, you will be responsible for implementing process improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing methodologies and managing safety programs. This is a hands-on role that includes process analysis and optimization to minimize downtime, improve productivity, and support overall operational excellence.

 

You will:

  • Study current workflows, conduct time studies, and analyze data to identify inefficiencies and waste, using lean
  • Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Conduct employee trainings on safety standards and operational procedures.
  • Actively participate in troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts, using tools PDCA, 5 whys, etc. to find root causes and implement solutions.
  • Design, build, and implement improvements, such as new material racks, workstations, or process flows. This can also involve making modifications to existing structures and tools.
  • Document best practices by writing or updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and help create training materials.
  • Work closely with various teams, including production, maintenance, project managers, and engineering, to gather input and implement changes effectively.
  • Track the progress of continuous improvement and safety projects, update stakeholders on status, and alert management to potential delays.
  • Ensure that all improvements maintain or enhance safety and quality standards throughout the process.
  • Promote a culture of safety, collaboration and continuous improvement within the manufacturing environment.

 

What You Bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience with safety and process improvement within a manufacturing setting
  • Strong understanding of continuous improvement principles, Lean Manufacturing, and methodologies like 5S
  • Hands-on experience building and modifying structures, using power tools, and rigging/hoisting/forklift best practices
  • Ability to lead and execute safety and improvement initiatives
  • Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office, CAD, or similar)

Physical Demands:

Lifting or moving objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Pushing, pulling, and bending. Standing and/or walking for 8 or more hours per day.
